20-minute Shadow Boxes

Display seaside finds in simple shadow boxes for eclectic natural pieces of art

**1 Natural objects** Collect favourite small objects found in nature, such as pebbles, shells and tiny pieces of driftwood. **2 Paper** Select thick, sturdy paper in a complementary shade. Cut the paper into a piece that’s one inch bigger than the opening of your matting on all sides. Arrange your found objects in a pleasing design and secure them to the paper with a dab of hot glue. For a cohesive look, frame like objects together—shells with shells, for example. *Martha Stewart Crafts 18" x 18" Craftstock in Cloud, $4 per sheet, Michaels.*

**3 Shadow box frames** Securely tape the paper to the back of the mat, making sure your design is centred in the mat’s opening. Assemble the shadow box. *Ribba frames in white, from $10, Ikea.* **Tip:** Before getting out the glue, experiment with various configurations. If you’re creating a series, make sure the pieces work together.
