Whether hybrid tea, floribunda, climbing or shrub, roses come with one major caveat: they need at least six hours of direct sun a day. Don’t bother putting roses in the shade or behind other plants; they are the divas of the garden and need the spotlight to do their best. That said, they are also versatile and can show off their charms as hedges, specimens, espaliers or ground cover, as well as in borders and containers.
