Barren strawberry ground cover
Where can I find the ground cover known as barren strawberry or Waldsteinia ternata?

Dear Gardening Life,
In one of your gardening magazines, I read about a ground cover. The writer was Marjorie [Harris], and the ground cover was the "Barren Strawberry" or, known by its Latin name, Waldsteinia ternata. I live in Nova Scotia, and I want to cover a small area by the sea in the Pictou area. I thought, from my reading about the ground cover, that it would be the best for the area I want to cover.
The problem is that I cannot find it anywhere in Nova Scotia to buy it. I haven't even been able to find another company in Canada from which to order it. Can you please help me?

Your query about barren strawberry (Waldsteinia ternata) was passed along to me. This is a wonderful little ground cover, thriving in sun or shade and offering a bonus of yellow flowers in spring.
You might check in your local garden centre's ground cover section as well as in the perennial section. However, if you have exhausted all your local sources, I know of one mail order source: Hortico in Waterdown, Ont.
