Compatible plants with bell peppers

What plants are compatible planted with bell peppers?

##FULL QUESTION## Dear *Gardening Life*, My parents are interested in finding out what plants are compatible planted with bell peppers. Help! *—Phyllis Famularo*

(continued below)

##FULL ANSWER## Phyllis, Bell peppers are compatible with (and often helped by) basil, carrots, lovage, marjoram, onions, oregano, tomatoes, parsley, lettuce and spinach. Avoid planting them near fennel, kohlrabi or apricot trees. I also understand that planting some nasturtiums nearby can act as a trap crop for aphids.
