A faux finish arrangement
Slip artificial fall foliage into an arrangement for an incredibly authentic, long-lasting look
When hard-pressed, even avid gardeners admit that the odd artificial botanical is just as good as the real thing. Thankfully, good fakes are so realistic these days, it’s difficult to tell them apart from Mother Nature’s own.
Purchasing quality reproductions can be a great investment—they’re readily available in many home-decor stores and ideal for filling out seasonal planters and displays year after year. Just look for botanical accuracy, such as true-to-life colours and textures, as well as attention to detail in the leaves, berries and stems. (Make sure the stems are individually wired and wrapped, and are easy to bend.) Keep your arrangements looking top notch throughout the season by dusting them occasionally. And remember to place sand, pebbles or gravel in the bottom of taller containers to keep young hands or feline friends from tipping them over.
