GL Contest: Beds & Borders Third Place

Manfred and Elenore Kehlenbeck from Thunder Bay, ON have a true passion for gardening and pick up third prize

##Labour of Love## Designed for plant lovers, this ever-changing Zone 3 garden “has become a real labour of love,” say retired school teachers Manfred and Elenore Kehlenbeck.

Over the years, they have put in raised beds to protect existing tree roots, a gravel bed, rose arbour and many hardy Explorer and Morden roses. Lush perennial beds include phlox, sedum, potentilla, lamb’s ears, lady’s mantle, alliums, globeflowers and hardy geraniums. The pair’s efforts give them great satisfaction and, last summer, were recognized with a City Beautification Award.
