Easy greenhouse makeover

Organic gardener Heather Cameron revives her treasured greenhouse using a few innovative, simple ideas Photos by Janis Nicolay

**Curtain Raiser** I made awnings from the leftover fabric to block the sun coming in the two front windows (unless you’re smitten with a fabric, choose an all-weather kind—mine will have to come inside over winter). To prevent the awnings from sagging across the front, sew two seams an inch apart to form a pocket (leaving about four inches of fabric for overhang) and insert a rod through it. I attached the awnings to the greenhouse with peel-and-stick Velcro and stapled them for extra measure. Bamboo sticks, positioned behind the overhang rod and in the windowsill corners, hold up the awnings.
