Finding the best Christmas tree

Use our field guide to find a tree that suits your needs and style Photos by Laura Arsie

##PINE## **Scots Pine**
(*Pinus sylvestris*) The Scots (or Scotch) pine is a hardy, very affordable and fragrant tree that keeps well when cut. It won’t lose its needles, even with little water, and it can handle all types of decorations thanks to its strong branches.
**Needles:** Stiff, twisted, sharp tips; about 2 inches long.
**Colour:** Bright to dark blue-green.
*Widely available across the country.*
