If you were blindfolded, spun around 10 times and dropped off in the middle of the lush, edible jungle that is Vivian Reiss’ garden, you may be surprised to find out that you are also smack dab in the heart of downtown Toronto. Reiss, a painter who grew up in the “jungles of New York City,” recalls growing string beans and marigolds on the windowsill of her apartment at the age of nine. Since then, says the self-taught gardener, “I’ve always had an affinity for edible gardening.”
