Home in the Garden

There’s a place for everyone in this fun and functional family garden in Vancouver

**Talk about outdoor living:** the framework of this large Vancouver garden practically imitates a home. Guests are greeted by an elegant parlour in the form of a parterre at the front of the house. A dining area features a giant rustic gas fireplace that warms homeowners Suren Sanmugasunderam, his wife Janice Menezes and their three kids on frosty winter evenings. On opposite sides of the dining-room axis is a playroom complete with swing set and an eight-seat spa for refreshing dips in the summer or warming soaks in fall and winter. One large grass-carpeted “rumpus room” offers space for frolicking, and a sunken patio is hidden just off an alluring garden corridor. **A bluestone path leads to a plant-packed parterre.**
