Luxury suite

The livin’ is easy in a series of stunning outdoor rooms that mesh the old with the new Photos by Angus McRitchie; Styling by Beth Gold

The dinner table is set under the stars, the built-in barbecue is raring to go and the candles in the sheltered living room are lit. All that’s left to do before guests arrive is to take a refreshing 10-minute retreat in the outdoor yoga/meditation room outfitted with a relaxing water wall. This scenario (for many, an ultimate example of outdoor living) was realized by Montreal designer Stuart Webster, owner of Stuart Webster Design, two summers ago in a client’s 1,500-square-foot garden in the leafy Montreal enclave of Westmount. So that the owner could enjoy the space for entertaining, relaxation and exercise, five fully functional rooms—a dining room, living room, two lounge areas and a yoga/meditation room—were designed over the three-tiered, south-facing lot. **Elegant stone steps lead to the upper outdoor rooms.**
