New and bold plant selections

Kick pots and borders up a notch with lucious new versions of old favourites

By Karen York

**‘Chocolate Mint’ coleus** (*Solenostemon scutellarioides*) Talk about hot chocolate! Sporting dark cocoa-coloured leaves edged in fresh minty green with matching undersides, this delicious coleus will sweeten any pot or mixed planting. Like most coleus, it will be bushier if you pinch back the tips once or twice to encourage branching. It loves heat but not the sun, which will scorch the leaves, so grow it in full to part shade. **Height: 12 to 14 inches. Spread: 10 to 12 inches.** *Photo courtesy Veseys*
