New and bold plant selections

Kick pots and borders up a notch with lucious new versions of old favourites

By Karen York

**‘Bada Bing’ and ‘Bada Boom’ begonias** (*Begonia semperflorens*) Loved *The Sopranos*? Get a hit of colour in pots and borders with this new family of wax begonias: ‘Bada Bing’, which has pink, rose, scarlet or white flowers over succulent green leaves, and ‘Bada Boom’, with similar coloured blooms set against dark bronze foliage (that’s the pink, pictured). Early to flower and extremely long lasting, these tough customers will hold their own or form attractive alliances with other plants in part shade. Bellissimo! **Height: 8 to 10 inches. Spread: 6 to 8 inches.** *Photo courtesy Veseys*
