An outdoor movie party

Allow the comforts and colours of fall to set the scene for an outdoor movie party with family and friends Produced by Heather Cameron; Photos by Janis Nicolay

**SET THE SCENE** * Decorate with branches and berries from your garden. * Gourds and pumpkins make inexpensive props—mix them with a selection of succulents, cacti, cabbages and black grasses for fun centrepieces. * Accessorize with fall-inspired decor such as leaf-shaped plates and pumpkin bowls. * An eclectic mix of benches and lawn chairs fits right in (Adirondack chairs are especially comfortable). * Hay bales provide extra seating and double as side tables (just keep open flames in check). * Keep lighting soft with lots of candlelight—place candles in jars or hollowed-out gourds to protect flames from the wind. * Hurricane lamps or kerosene lanterns are also ideal for the outdoors. * Small hand-held flashlights are a safe option for the kids.
