Spectacular all-season garden shrubs & trees

Here are six seasonal standouts to give your garden the Midas touch

## Kousa dogwood (Cornus kousa) Small spreading tree reaching 22 feet. Sun to part shade. Zone 5. In colder areas, look for the shrubby dogwoods, C. sericea and C. alba. **Spring:** Large white or pink flowers. **Summer:** Dangling raspberry-like red fruit amid pointed, dark green (or variegated) leaves. **Fall:** Deep wine-coloured foliage. **Winter:** Mottled grey-brown bark; horizontal branching pattern. _(Photo by Joan de Grey)_
