Top 5 ferns for your garden

GL's Marjorie Harris shares her fave ferns Photos by Laura Arsie

SENSITIVE FERN (Onoclea sensibilis) A splendid native fern with rounded edges to its leaflets, it can be a bit invasive in moist soil. If space is limited, stick it in a container where it will look equally handsome. **Zone 3**. **Combine with**: Giant merrybells (*Uvularia grandiflora*), sedges (*Carex*) such as ‘Ice Dance’ and the strongly vertical form of Solomon’s seal (*Polygonatum*).
