Tranquil Garden

This beautiful garden is a sanctuary only steps away from the busy everyday

Elegant, serene and extremely private, this garden is only half a block from a busy thoroughfare in Vancouver’s Shaughnessy district—but you’d never know it. Three waterfalls trickling down rock ledges into a large pond dampen all sounds of nearby traffic, while tall walls of mature evergreens and Japanese maples hide any glimpse of the surrounding cityscape. Dramatically cantilevered over the pond is a glass-sided extension of the house. Containing the dining room, it seems to float on the water’s surface and, with its see-through views, creates the feeling of alfresco dining. **Local basalt stone was used to link existing elements.**
