Eight months have gone by so quickly! This is my first week back at the magazine since our baby came last September and I'm happy to say he loves the garden. It's a great place for kids; the bugs and birds, the flowers and trees put their senses on high alert. A favourite thing to do in our garden is eat strawberries from our raised bed (here's a couple of pictures I took early this evening). By picking his own berries he's learning about the colour red and as he gets older he’ll learn more complex things about growing food—a good skill to have. If you're a parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle, involve the kids in your garden, they'll love it! You can also check out your local botanical garden for great children's programs. Many of them have special events, kids clubs and story-time with a nature theme--lots to help “green” the little ones.
